The Sports Bar and Grill in Marylebone station is a great place to watch live sports and have a hearty meal at the same time.

Even though the restaurant is surrounded my plasma screens and sport merchandise, its still a nice modern looking restaurant and bar, with crystal chandeliers, wooden tables, wine glasses on the table, so its not just all boyish.

As we were heading for a girly birthday lunch a table was booked in advance, due to party size, but walk-in are welcomed too. Once seated we were given main menus as well as their special ‘BeerDogs’ classic American Hotdog menu, which consists of a beef, pork or vegetarian dog, with a choice of 11 toppings to choose from and served with fries. The main menu is also great including sandwiches, grills, salads, a fish section and they also serve a traditional roast on a Sunday.

We had a look at the menu and a couple of the girls picked opted for sandwiches from the main menu the first was a warm crisp Creole chicken tenders with tomato, lettuce mayonnaise and BBQ sauce, and the other a vegetarian sandwich (not on the menu put added cheese instead of ham) of cheese, tomato and mustard both served on granary bread and companied with French fries both at £6.95.

The other girls including myself opted for a BeerDog, choosing the Louisiana Dog topping of Cajun spice with red onion and strong American cheddar which came in a lightly toasted sub and a choice of fries or Cajun fries; I opted for the Cajun fries. On arrival I liked how the meals were presented, on a chopping board with the fries in a silver metal bucket.

After taking the first bite of the hot-dog, it was nice, but dry and having previously tried the original topping hot-dog on another occasion I should have opted for that again as that was much more delicious. The fries and the Cajun spice were lovely, overall not bad, but I’d still head to Bubble Dogs instead for better tasting hot-dogs.
Either way the Sports Bar and Grill is a lovely restaurant, with a great menu choice, good service and a perfect resting point if your waiting for your train at Marylebone station.
