A recent girly night out led us to the heart of Covent Garden at Cafe Pacifico for some Mexican cuisine. On arrival the restaurant and bar was buzzing on a Thursday night. The atmosphere looked fun and we couldn’t wait to be seated, not only because we were starving but because the environment looked fun.
Once seated we were greeted by a very friendly waitress for the night, the music was Spanish and the bar was thriving with people after work, or just out for a night out. The decor is great very colourful, lots of pictures on the walls, wooden tables and chairs, a bar and kitchen on display, we felt like we were in a bar abroad, the atmosphere was great.
After looking through the menu we all decided on the following: Chicken Fajitas for 3 (£29.95) served on a sizzling skilled accompanied with sour creams, guacamole, pico de gallo, grilled onions and peppers with a choice of either flour or corn tortillas.
The other two diners opted for the Vegetarian Tacos which were two rolled corn tortillas with cheese, lettuce onions, tomatoes and taco sauce with vegetables of the day for £9.95.
We also opted for some sides which included Tortilla Chips & Salsa (£3.00), Jalapeno Poppers, which a breaded jalapeno chilies stuffed with cheese (£4.50) and some Hot Spicy Onion Rings (£3.50) deep fried onions served with a chipotle mayonnaise dip.
OK so having tried many chicken fajitas before, this has to be my favourite. The chicken was so soft and the flavours were delish it just melted in your mouth, I’m also a huge fan of cooked onions from a sizzler these tasted lush. Even though all 3 of were so full, we kept digging in with our forks on the sizzler pate as we didn’t want to waste any of the chicken or vegetables. My mouth is still watering thinking about it.
The others diners enjoyed their tacos, but felt that they were loaded with a lot of cheese; this was the same with the jalapeno poppers. The nachos were fresh and the salsa dip that accompanied them was lovely. Onion rings were good too but nothing special.
So if you’re ever in the heart of convent garden and after some Mexican food with a fun buzzy atmosphere, then I highly recommend Cafe Pacifico. It makes a great work, boys or girls night out or even a fun date idea. Just make sure you try the fajitas they were to die for, and don’t forget the Margarita’s’.
