Being a huge fan of the American burger style joints, I was eager to see why everyone’s been raving on about Meat Liquor. So with that in mind, I decided to go for lunch and beat the long dinner queues.

It took us a while to find the restaurant even with Google maps stored on my phone (I am rubbish with directions), but we got there…finally. On entering the restaurant we were greeted by an American waiter (this seemed to be the theme) the interior is dark with red lighting but with hip art work, I loved the ceiling deco.

Although it was lunchtime the restaurant was still very busy, we were given seats at the back section of the restaurant, slightly hidden away from the main area, but we didn’t mind.
The ‘Liquor’ (drinks menu) is an extensive menu with a great choice of cocktails to choose from. We ordered a ‘Meatjito’ with Bacardi, crushed ice with mint, fresh lime juice and sugar (£8.00). And I opted for the ‘Donkey Punch’ (£7.50) which consisted of Vodka, fresh lime juice, ginger beer with an Absinthe rinse. They were delicious.

The main menu includes a variety of fried sides, burgers, hot dogs, salads and desserts, but if you’re a vegetarian there is only one veggie friendly burger to choose from: a halloumi, mushroom burger. So if you’re not a fan then your other options are the fried sides like onion rings deep fried pickles and fries. I guess they don’t call it ‘Meat Liquor’ for any other reason.
After reading through the menu we decided on the cheesy fries, which are smothered in melted cheese and onions (£4.00), normal fries (£3.00), a ‘Dirty Chicken Burger’: a deep fried fillet with mayo, red onions and lettuce (£7.50). And the ‘Buffalo Chicken Burger’: a dirty chicken burger covered in house pepper sauce with blue cheese dressing (£8.00).
The meals arrived on a silver tray, very retro. Although very, very messy to eat (they do provide a much needed roll of paper kitchen towels on your table), the burgers and fries were great, the buffalo sauce that coated my burger was tasty, even though it coated half my face, but it was oh so worth it.

Meat Liquor, is a great burger place that I highly recommend. The atmosphere is buzzing, the cocktail list is great and if you want to end up in a meat coma then this is the place for you.
Meat Liquor makes a great night out with friends, a causal date or even a place for you to dine alone. The service is friendly; the food is great but during busy periods queues are formed, so if you don’t mind waiting then go for it, lastly remember to take a bib with you, it is a dirty experience.
