At work we are always aware of when a new restaurant opens up nearby. The latest is Hixter Bankside, a cool very trendy restaurant with metal and brickwork with hanging art. The restaurant is big and can cater for private parties.

Once seated at our table we were greeted by our friendly waiter for the duration, who then hands us our menus and pours us all some water. The food choice varies from steaks, to half chickens and curries, but it seems Hixter is known for its beef, and large meats for sharing.
We all opted for dishes on the Early Bird & Bull lunch menu where all dishes are £9.95, but only available Monday to Friday from 11:30am to 4:30pm, therefore we were in luck!
From the menu I chose the De Beauvoir smoked salmon with scrambled Burford Brown eggs. My other colleagues went for the Goosnargh Chicken Burger, the Fillet Steak Sandwich and the Ground Rib steak Burger all served with chips.

On arrival the food didn’t look anything special, expect for the fillet steak burger with was huge! I wasn’t too impressed with my meal, it was pretty standard something easily cooked up at home, and there wasn’t much flavour in the eggs but the salmon was of a very good quality. The other diners thought there meals were average too.
Overall Hixter is a great trendy place, but the food seems average, I would probably go back and try some the chicken and see if that’s any better. Either way it makes a nice welcome within the Southwark area.
