Pizza Express: Pizza Making Experience Review, Pinner

Valentines this year we decided to spread the love with another three couples, and what better way than to participate in the pizza making experience at the chain Pizza Express.

We had reservations at the Pizza Express in Pinner, and were delighted that we got our own room for the night and a dedicated chef who showed us the art of making pizza the Italian way.

The experience package consisted of a glass of Prosecco or a soft drink, a starter and the pizza that you create. So to start off we all got our dough and learnt how to roll this onto a pizza base tray, followed by how to spread the sauce onto the base. At this point the competition amongst the couples was intense.

Next was the favourite part of it all…Toppings!! We were given a choice of vegetable and meat toppings to choose from and could use as much as we liked. Mine included mushrooms, jalapenos, cherry tomatoes, olives onions and mozzarella.

Once these were all done, the chef placed them onto a rack to be sent to the oven. After this two volunteers (one of them included me) made two calzone’s, a vegetarian one and a meat one. The process of making this was much harder, but a lot more fun with tossing and moving the dough around and also the fact that I was competing against my brother in law made it that much more fun!

Once the experience was completed, it was time to sit back and reflect on all the hard work. Starters arrive (olives and dough sticks) followed by our lovely pizza and calzone creations; and I must say mine did look the best (I’m not biased at all!). Overall it was a good experience; they could expand on the choice of toppings and possibly include more fun and games as part of the experience making it that much more interactive.
