Circus Restaurant Review, London

Friday usually means another double date, this time at the famous Circus restaurant in Covent Garden, which I have been meaning to go to since it opened. Circus is a very busy restaurant therefore it’s advisable to book in advance, but we managed to get a last minute 6:45pm table.

On our arrival we were greeted by the friendly door man, who checked us in and were then shown to our table. Our location was fab we were right behind the main banqueting table where the acts take place. The interior of the restaurant is modern, very glitz and glam, with black and white deco throughout the restaurant and bar.

The food menu is pan-Asian and we ordered a few dishes which we shared among us. From the dim sum sum section we opted for the Chicken & Snow Pea Gyoza with a sweet black vinegar sauce, and Wasabi & Purple Shiso Scallops served with crushed pea, pickled daikon & ginger:

We then selected the Vegetarian Sushi selection and the roasted and raw seasonal Vegetable Maki Rolls from the sushi and sashimi section and from the tempura section: Baby Vegetable Tempura which included courgette, aubergine, carrots & lemon ponzu:

Onto the mains which included the Red Chilli Lamb Chops with sweet potato and pickled cucumber, Black Cod with sweet miso and pickled ginger stem and finally the Yellow Prawn and Cucumber Curry Lily bulb, with tamarind, aubergine and cherry tomato served with jasmine rice:

Although the food at Circus is on the higher price end, the quality was great although portion size is minimal. The sushi selection was great, but my favourite was the black cod. The combination of food and entertainment does work. The shows/acts are spread out throughput your dining experience within every 20 minute bursts. The performances happen on the main banqueting table where they had a variety of acts:

If you are looking for something different in a dining experience then I would recommend Circus just for that and where possible try and make a booking with the large banqueting table which will make the experience that much more fun.
